📐 Scope and General Specifications

ASTM D6214/D6214M – 23 provides an accelerated, destructive test method specifically tailored for verifying the integrity of field seams created by chemical fusion processes. It is applicable to both scrim-reinforced and nonreinforced geomembranes used in geotechnical applications. The method specifically covers field seaming processes that utilize a chemical fusion agent or a bodied chemical fusion agent as the seaming mechanism.

Acceptance of a seam is not dictated solely by this test method. Instead, criteria are established by the site-specific contract plans, specifications, and Construction Quality Control/Assurance (CQC/CQA) documents. The standard requires that values be reported in either SI units or inch-pound units, used independently of one another, as they are not exact equivalents.
