📐 Classification and Material Configurations

ASTM D6163/D6163M-21 covers prefabricated, glass fiber-reinforced bituminous sheets modified with styrene butadiene styrene (SBS) for use in multiple ply roofing and waterproofing membranes. Materials are categorized into Type I, Type II, and Type III, which denote increasing physical performance. Two grades are specified: Grade G (granule surfaced), featuring mineral granules on the weather side, and Grade S (smooth surfaced).

⚙️ Minimum Physical Property Requirements

Sheet materials must meet the minimum physical properties prescribed in Table 2 of the standard. The SBS modifier provides excellent low-temperature flexibility and overall durability. The glass fiber reinforcement is fully impregnated and coated on both sides with the modified bituminous coating.
