D6023-16 – Standard Test Method Technical Guide

🧪 Scope and Significance of ASTM D6023-16

This standard test method explains the determination of the density (unit weight) of freshly mixed Controlled Low-Strength Material (CLSM) and provides the gravimetric formulas for calculating the corresponding yield, cement content, and air content. Based on Test Method C138/C138M for concrete, this procedure is fundamental to the quality control of CLSM, which is also specified under names such as flowable fill, controlled density fill, soil-cement slurry, and “K-Krete”. Note that “Unit Weight” is the previous terminology used for the property of mass per unit volume determined by this test.
