IEC 60350-2: Household Electric Hobs — Energy Efficiency Comparison: Induction vs. Radiant

Induction vs. Radiant: Standardized Tests Show 20–30% Efficiency Advantage

IEC 60350-2:2017 specifies household electric hob performance. Induction (~80-90%) generates eddy currents directly in the pan via 20-60kHz magnetic field. Radiant (~60-70%) loses energy twice: resistance wire→IR→glass panel→pan. Induction works only with ferromagnetic cookware.

TNLab — Induction efficiency comes at a cost: you must use “magnetic” cookware.
