D2397 – Standard Test Method Technical Guide

📋 Specification Overview and General Requirements

ASTM D2397/D2397M – 20 establishes the standard specification for seven grades of cationic emulsified asphalt utilized in pavement construction. The standard requires the emulsion to be thoroughly homogeneous upon delivery, provided separation has not occurred as a result of freezing. Testing must be completed within a strict 14-day window from the date of delivery to ensure conformance to the specified properties.

⚠️ Critical Requirement: Emulsions that have been compromised by freezing and subsequently separated shall not be tested. Storage conditions must maintain a temperature of no less than 4 °C [39.2 °F] to preserve sample integrity.

⚙️ Required Test Methods and Property Verification
