ASTM D2000 / SAE J200 organizes vulcanized rubber materials by their fundamental performance characteristics. The system uses a combination of Type (based on heat aging resistance) and Class (based on resistance to swelling in ASTM Oil No. 3 or IRM 903). This allows specifiers to quickly define a material’s capabilities using a standardized alphanumeric code.
