ASTM D1784-20 covers rigid PVC, CPVC, and vinyl chloride copolymers (containing a minimum of 80% vinyl chloride) for general-purpose extruded or molded products, including fittings and both pressure and non-pressure piping applications. The compounding ingredients are permitted to consist of lubricants, stabilizers, non-poly(vinyl chloride) resin modifiers, pigments, and inorganic fillers, among others as needed to meet the classification requirements.

For pressure piping applications, long-term material stress ratings such as the Hydrostatic Design Basis (HDB) in accordance with Test Method D2837 must be addressed separately.
