Al-Mg-Si Alloy Busbars — The Compromise Between Strength and Conductivity

IEC 60114 recommends aluminium-magnesium-silicon type alloy busbar material. Compared to pure aluminium busbars (IEC 60105), the alloy sacrifices some conductivity (~53% vs. ~61% IACS) for nearly double the tensile strength — preferred when busbars must carry high current and span larger mechanical distances.
